Moving to China can be exciting. It can also be confusing. When we met international students in Xi’an, we noticed many of them had the same practical questions — from arrival and accommodation to mobile payments and everyday life.
The China Helper was created to make these questions easier to answer, and to share practical information that newcomers can really use.

Hardy Lau
Founder & Digital Technology Lead
Hardy Lau is a China-based technology and digital services professional with more than 15 years of experience in the internet and technology industry. He has spent many years working with Chinese businesses and international clients, building digital products and services in a Chinese-language environment.
At The China Helper, Hardy focuses on the platform, technology, digital solutions and AI-assisted content infrastructure.
Elizabeth Hakim
Chinese Language Educator & Education Contributor
Elizabeth Hakim has been working in Chinese education since 2012. She is an Indonesian Chinese and holds HSK Level 6. Her experience includes teaching Chinese at Bandung Chongren Trilingual National School, as well as at Ronghua Chinese Learning Center and Hope of Light Chinese Learning Center.
At The China Helper, Elizabeth contributes to Chinese language education, teaching materials and online/offline teaching.
